Sonia’s foray into teaching Pilates came from being
a Pilates enthusiast herself, initially because of
a need to strengthen her back due to an injury sustained in a motor vehicle accident, and then
due to the fantastic way it made her look and feel.

Coming from an athletic background, Sonia
competed at a National level in athletics and
played representative netball during her school years. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and worked for several years as a publicist. Fitness however was always a priority, leading her to studying the Pilates Method with Pilates Master Trainer Helen Tardent in Sydney.

Sonia worked as a Pilates instructor in several
leading Pilates studios in Sydney, including Helen
Tardent’s studio Pilates Moves prior to opening
Pilates Physique in Paddington Sydney in 2003.
In 2008 Pilates Physique moved to its new
designer location on New South Head Road
Edgecliff, Sydney.

Sonia has continually pioneered the way forward in the Pilates industry creating the top selling Pilates Physique Exercise Circle and workout DVD. Pilates Physique is the first studio in Australia to introduce tower cadillac group classes and one of only a handful of studios nationally to have a fully supervised crèche facility. Sonia more recently became an accredited Stretch Therapist and Power Plate instructor. She has become a popular figure in the media regularly promoting Pilates in magazines and on television.
